                                4. INTRODUCTION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take agent Zub through the perils of ten nasty worlds to retrieve the eyeball
of Zub for his King, Zub. If Zub fails Zub one will lose the war to Zub ten and
his commander, Zub will probably Zub him. Geddit?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                  5. THE GAME
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your mission is simple, make your way to the Planet Zub 10, steal the green
eyeball of Zub and return to Zub 1. In order to travel undetected you must use
the Zub Teleport Network which is no longer used due to the continuing Zub
Wars.

Each planet has three teleport units which are in orbit, a mile or so above the
planet surface. To reach them you must negotiate a series of floating platforms
which can be moved left or right under your control. Each of the three units
will transport you to a different planet within the Zub system. It is
advisable to make a map of the teleport network. Each planet is protected by
its own fleet of security robots. The mysterious Zub Zone awaits!

As you progress through the game you will score points for shooting aliens and
reaching milestones. The higher the difficulty level, the more you score. The
scoring system promotes speed, efficiency and accuracy in the following ways:

Speed...
Each level has a set period of time during which you can score points.
Should you kill any aliens outside of the alloted time, you will be deducted
points. Upon revisiting a level, you will see that the alloted time is set
to zero. The alloted time for each level is only reset once you've found the
   green eyeball of Zub.

Efficiency...
Find the quickest route to Planet Zub 10! You will be generously rewarded
for any levels you don't have to visit on your way to finding the eye.

Accuracy...
Careful shooting will increase your end of level bonus. Greater accuracy
   means more points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                 6. CONTROLS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The game can be played with keyboard or joystick. Press 'R' on the main menu
screen to reconfigure the controls. Key presses or joystick movements can be
chosen for any of the controls. The defaults are:

Cursor keys - Jump, crouch and move left & right
Left Ctrl - Fire
Esc - Pause/Quit

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                7. HIGH SCORES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

High scores can be uploaded to the Retrospec server. When the game ends, if
you have high scores turned on and your score is more than zero you will be
given the option to upload your score. After entering your details, the top 50
scores will be displayed on screen. To view all the scores for Zub, go to
http://retrospec.sgn.net and follow the link to high scores.

In addition to this, your scores will also be written to a text file called
"scores.txt". This file is cleared down the first time you finish a game after
running Zub. When you quit Zub, the file will contain a list of all scores
obtained since you ran the game. A code is listed against each score. These
codes can be used to manually submit your score by visting the Retrospec site
and entering the required details. You should use this feature if the upload
from the game fails due to server problems.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                               8. TROUBLESHOOTING
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have difficulty running Zub then please feel free to contact me with as
much information about the problem as possible. Also include details on your
system. My contact details can be found below.

I am more than happy to help, however emails along the lines of "Zub doesn't
work, what's wrong?" will be ignored. If you can't be bothered to fully explain
the problem then I won't bother replying to you.

I'm doing this in my own free time, a little courtesy costs nothing.
